David is a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) and prior to his retirement in 2024 had worked in the NHS for over 33 years with much of that time in senior finance roles.

David qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1986 starting his NHS career in 1990 in Leicestershire and for a number of years worked in a consultancy capacity in a variety of senior roles for NHS commissioners, providers and regulators across England.

Immediately prior to retiring David had been the Director of Finance, Systems and Estates at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust, a post he had held for six years.

Throughout his career David has been an active member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) both at branch and national level.  He was also involved in the development of the HFMA’s Academy and has been an assessor and chief assessor for the Academy. He is a Fellow of the HFMA and a former Eastern Branch Chair.

Prior to becoming a Trustee at Advantage Schools David served as a Governor at Laburnum Primary School

David is also a Non-Executive Director of the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust and chairs their Finance and Performance Committee.
