Ms Godden was part of the original team that helped set up Bedford Free School.
After training as a Business Studies teacher in 2002 and teaching in two state schools in Bedford, she left and went into HR and training before working for the Learning and Skills Council as a 14-19 School Partnership Adviser and then the School Improvement Team at
Bedford Borough.
She now works for the Harpur Trust as an Education Partnership Adviser and works with local state primary schools on projects aimed at improving life-chances for disadvantaged pupils.
Outside of work, Ms Godden does a lot of volunteering and has been a magistrate for Bedfordshire for 17 years, is a governor at a local state primary school as well as being secretary of their PTA.
